BOBJ & BODS remote access

Currently we have ports configuration issue result in errors when using workbench remotely.

when logging with bods server admin, got below error could no reach CMS:

while logging with bobj server admin, got two different errors:

conclude that there are still some ports should forward to bods missing.

Webi rich client got version error, need to upgrade then try again.

Looks to me the s4bobj:6500 and s4bods:6400 are pointing to internal servers which would not be reachable from internet.

If login from external fat clients, why not try s4bobj.fandezhi.com:6500 and s4bods.fandezhi.com:6400?

Also if there are local hosts resolutions I would say in the BOBJ server and BODS server, add above FQDN into the hosts file point to local IP 192.168.1.xx

I did add entries in hosts file for bobj, bods server and local pc. my understanding is bobj and bods will translate host name (enter in client) in server side, has to match both client and server side hosts file entry.

the second error scenario above, I was using bods admin to log on bobj server it says wrong logon that means it could reach bobj server. same the third case I was using bobj admin to log on bobj server of cause it could not use workbench as i had reach bobj server.

the first error i was using bods admin to log on bods server it could not reach bods server. so that means ports settings.

If that's the case then I can add s4bobj.efglobe.com to the DNS alias from the internet service provider.

However for the short name s4bobj, why it's required? Is there anything configured in the bobj server that only accept short name but not FQDN?

FQDN works too, i had add entry in bobj, bods hosts file too. i use short name just lazy to type many letters.

Bobj rich client tools now can remotely access BOBJ server.
